IM-PERFECTLY CRISP
Im-Perfectly Crisp is a snack product created for the Design for Good.
It aims to solve 3 problems:
1. High in Fat/Sodium/Sugar snacking
2. Food waste/Cosmetically imperfect produce waste
3. Impractical and Difficult package opening/closing
To solve problem 1, ImPerfectly Crisp is made by air frying the vegetables and fruits using a minimal amount of oil compared to conventionally oil fried chips in the market. For problem 2, ImPerfectly Crisp is made out of cosmetically imperfect produce that are being thrown out just because they look ugly. By incorporating these produce, we aim to reduce unnecessary food waste and lower the production cost. For problem 3, the packaging uses a Multiplex zipper instead of traditional chip packaging that opens by pulling the bag apart. Multiplex zipper is a package opening and closing that one can hear and feel. The zipper makes a loud sound as an indicator for proper sealing. The exaggerated 'snap' feel when closing also makes sure the chip bag is properly closed. The incorporation of the zipper will allow the customers to reseal the bag without using extra products like bag clip. Most of the design elements were inspired by the qualities of imperfect vegetables/fruits. The logo uses a simple sans-serif font where each letter is placed wonky and oddly just like the shape of the imperfect produces. The front of the packaging has an illustration of the vegetables or fruits that are inside the package. The wavy pattern also showcases the visual qualities of imperfect produce - bendy, wavy, wonky. The target audience for this product is children and all family groups as the snack consumption among children/younger demographic is higher.
