Y-D SQUARE WAYFINDING STRUCTURE (2022)
This is a way-finding structure maquette created to be placed beside the Dundas subway station at the Y-D Square. It's about 3.5m tall and 3.5m wide. The square shape structure has a roof that is meant to block harsh sunlights and rainfalls in summer. The roof has a word “Yonge” and “Dundas” cut out so that, depending on the time of the day and the amount of light, the shadow with the word “Yonge” and “Dundas” is casted on the floor. On all 4 sides of the structure, there is a bold word that indicates the direction of Yonge and Dundas street. The composition of the words changes depending on the sides to make sure it matches with the viewer's perspective. The bold white street names are placed on top of the red background, creating a good amount of contrast between colours so that it's visible from far away. The letters are also placed about an inch above the red background, so it also creates a sense of depth and dimension.
