PERSONAL MIND MAP
This is a psychogeographical map of my personal space, which is a backyard. I began by creating a rough sketch of my backyard, including every area that I could perceive. Then, I moved onto the computer and eliminated and filtered out sections that aren’t as important/have many memories with, narrowing down to areas including; deck, slope, flowerbed, furnace, trees, and shrub. For a family of icons, I incorporated soundwaves of the sounds that I would hear often when spending time in each area. For example, construction and cooking(barbeque) noises were sounds that I heard the most. So, the sound waves were placed in those areas to portray my personal experience. For colour coding system, I used 4 different shades of green to depict the loudness of each soundwave. The darkest colour depicts the loudest sounds (e.g. construction), and the lightest shade depicting the quietest noise (e.g. accident and communication). The typography represents the cartographic elements by portraying the realistic size of each area, and the icons and colour represent psychogeographic elements by depicting my personal experience and memories.
